DUI

DUI (Driving under the influence) is dangerous in any circumstance. Due to their size and load capacity, truck drivers yield far more damage when involved in an accident. If you or a loved one has been injured or killed as a result of a truck driver operating a vehicle under the influence of drugs or alcohol, consult a Georgia truck accident attorney that will seek not only compensation for your injuries, pain, and suffering, but also one that will seek punitive damages against the company that hired the truck driver.

Federal regulation A ยง 392.4 regulates the use of drugs and other narcotic substances by truck drivers and clearly states:

  • No truck driver shall be on duty and possess, be under the influence of, or use, any of the following drugs or other substances:
  • Any substance -An amphetamine or any formulation thereof (including, but not limited, to “pep pills” and “bennies”)
  • A narcotic drug or any derivative thereof -Any other substance, to a degree that renders the driver incapable of safely operating a motor vehicle.
